The update to "jupyter.kernels.excludePythonEnvironments" excludes all Python kernels. This forces the notebook to automatically select the Java kernel.
The update to "files.exclude" specifies the list of files and directories that shouldn't appear in the file explorer. This will allow the workshop attendees to focus only on the java/ directory with exercises.
"workbench.secondarySideBar.defaultVisibility": "hidden"hides the Copilot Chat window that automatically appears on the right. This functionality isn't part of the lab currently and it takes up valuable screen space.
