Did you ever want to explore vintage computing, but you didn't have:
- the money to buy original hardware?
- the electrical engineering expertise to restore such hardware?
- the original knowledge needed to run software on the machines?
If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, then the Beehive Bit Bunker Bundles are just for you!
A bundle consists of:
- links to relevant documentation for the machines and environment
- download links to appropriate emulator or simulator for vintage hardware
- download links to appropriate software for the hardware
- instructions on how to install and run the emulator
- instructions on how to load the emulated software
- instructions on how to get started in the environment
- suggestions for open-ended experiments you can do on your own
Each bundle is designed to make it easy for you to explore a vintage computing environment.
HackerBox is a monthly electronics kit with a similar open-ended exploratory purpose. The HackerBox Mission is to "deliver interesting and exciting gear for exploring and learning electronics and computer technology".
The idea of a bundle was to have a similar experience, but for vintage computing. One advantage we have over HackerBoxes is that everything we need is available on the web so we don't need to charge any fees or ship you any physical stuff.
