I've been looking for an open source local first Coda.io alternative, and was thinking that the ultimate alternative would use the filesystem as the ultimate universally interoperable repository. Affine seems quite similar to Coda, however with filesystem sync I would be able to immediately bring affine content into any other tool. Perhaps MCP servers are the alternative to this idea, but then there is no actual hub, just different islands talking to each other, maybe that is fine. Perhaps dynamic static site generators (like the late DocPad, and the modern Astro) should import from MCP servers instead of the filesystem, and BlockSuite should also have a MCP query block.
