CLI isn't able to find android versionName in valid build.gradle

Results in [Error] The "android/app/build.gradle" file doesn't specify a value for the "android.defaultConfig.versionName" property.

But my android/app/build.gradle is

@CoryWritesCode our CLI expects that android is in the root of the gradle config. Can you confirm this? If not, can you share path to your android config of full config.

we were not able to reproduce the issue unfortunately. @CoryWritesCode please send us entire file to support@revopush.org or attach here. Seems like it may have issue with either formatting (as if invalid groovy syntax) or special characters or something like that what cause

I had the same issue recently after updating my gradle files.
In my case the problem is with using modern DSL Kotlin style.

Changing back it to the legacy style remedies the problem.

Long term solution for the issue, I believe, should involve updating the gradle-to-js dependency. The library itself is kinda stalled and probably needs to be replaced in order to support this sort of upgrade.
