Steps to Reproduce:

1. The spaces in the PowerShell input are showing up in a different colour from the background.
2. This doesn’t seem to be related to Insert/Overwrite mode.

I reset Windows 10 yesterday and wiped everything.
After reinstalling VS Code today, the PowerShell input is still showing up in different colours.

@SyrusYang Which theme(s) are you using that you have concerns about, and is this a regression?

Are you saying on white theme, and user highlighting in white theme should also be more white color rather than darker black color?

What I meant was that those parts in the PowerShell input weren’t highlighted by the mouse — they were just plain white characters.

Today I reset Windows again, and the issue has gone. I also moved the cursor back to the middle of a row of white characters in the PowerShell input, and everything looks normal now. I’m not selecting anything with the mouse either.

You can compare the difference — the cursor now has white characters on both sides, and they no longer look highlighted.

This is happening for me too and it's quite annoying. I can't just reset windows

The issue wasn’t resolved until I performed a full Windows reset two or three times.

@SyrusYang Mechanically I wonder what is even happening here. I'm trying to troubleshoot and see if there is a different way but it feels like I can't fully describe the issue. I can't reset my work machine and environment so that's a no go
