Error: Native addon "runtime" not found for win32-arm64 #3306

Describe the bug

I updated Copilot CLI (running on Windows, arm64 architecture), and started getting this error every time I interact with it:

Error: Native addon "runtime" not found for win32-arm64

I have it installed through winget. Repeated attempts to uninstall / reinstall does not resolve it. Restarting my PC does not resolve it. When I force winget to use the x64 version of Copilot instead, it works though.

Affected version

v1.0.48-0

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Run winget install GitHub.Copilot --architecture arm64
  2. Run copilot
  3. Type anything in the console
  4. Copilot responds with the error message above.
Note: if I switch the install command above to architecture x64, Copilot still works, so it seems to be an arm64 issue.

Expected behavior

Copilot should work with arm64-based architectures.
